Bio
Hi there, I’m Amy Hart. I grew up on Cape Cod, Massachusetts in a home where music was as much a part of life as breathing. My parents were always singing, and my mom hardly ever left her baby grand piano. My singing career began at the age of two while performing “The Sign”, by Ace of Bass and the Jenny Craig jingle for my sleeping parents. It was in school choir and church when I realized music had this incredible power to make me feel whole and truly seen.
I grew up idolizing the soulful voices of Brad Delp, Whitney Houston, Stevie Nicks, Amy Winehouse, and of course my momma, who showed me that passion is at the heart of any great performance. These days, I find myself equally moved by the fearless artistry of Jon Batiste, the storytelling style of John Mayer, the inventive edge of Billie Eilish, the soul of Tracy Chapman, and the raw intensity of Dave Grohl. I love letting a little rasp and grit shine through in my own voice. It’s where I connect most with the emotions running under the surface.
Before I moved to Fort Myers, Florida a few years ago to be closer to my family, I was honored to be nominated for Best Solo Acoustic Artist on Cape Cod in 2018. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some talented folks, including sharing a full-band live show with blues legend James Montgomery. And I’ll never forget my six years as the vocalist in a well-known funk band, which taught me how a shared groove can bring people together in the best possible way and proved why I sing and NOT dance for a living.
For me, music has always been a refuge. In moments when the world feels unsteady, I find my footing within the melodies and lyrics I create. There’s something freeing about it – it connects us on a level that words alone can’t always reach. My greatest hope is to help people to feel, to connect, and to heal from any sufferings or hurt they have endured, through the words and sounds I bring into this world – often saying what others can’t quite put into words themselves. When I’m not pouring my soul into my music, you can usually find me in the kitchen, happily experimenting with flavors. Cooking, like music, is another way I share my heart with the people I love.
Right now, I’m focusing on new songs and gearing up for some upcoming shows. Every day is an opportunity to learn more, refine my sound, and reach new ears – always learning, always growing. I hope you’ll join me on this journey. It means the world to me to create a bond with each person who listens, and I hope you’ll feel that sense of connection that got me hooked on music in the first place. It’s all about forming a bond and sharing something genuine, one note, one lyric at a time.
